Who We Are
HAS Children's Foundation is a vibrant oasis dedicated to transforming the lives of the new generation, young people, and their families across England and Wales and beyond. Our unwavering mission is to foster and uplift the new generation in health, skills and education so that young people and their families have an equal opportunity to thrive.

HAS Children's Foundation & Hospital Vision
The vision of HAS Children's Foundation began in Uganda in 1972, when its founder, Mr. Edward Dison Kavuma, then a TV producer, was inspired to uplift the new generation through health, skills, and education.
Confronted with the painful reality that many children were dying from curable diseases due to the absence of proper medical facilities, he envisioned building a hospital to provide quality treatment and save lives.
Yet another question arose: what happens after children are discharged? Returning to the same environment of poverty and limited opportunity would only continue the cycle of hardship. To break this cycle, the vision expanded beyond healthcare to include skills training and education.
By equipping children with practical abilities and knowledge, they could return to their communities with the tools to earn a living, maintain their well-being, and transform their lifestyles.
Guided by his belief that holidays and luxuries mean little compared to feeding and uplifting the needy, Mr. Kavuma dedicates every penny to children’s welfare. With the vision of extending this mission to the world, the foundation strives to ensure every child receives healing, empowerment, and hope for a brighter future.
What We Do
Four pillars guide our work and define the impact we create every day.
Hardship Support
We aim to meet families where they are — with food, clothing, school supplies, and trained counsellors who walk alongside young people through difficult seasons. Our teams distribute essential items, run community outreach, and provide one-to-one counselling for youth.
Lifelong Learning
We promote lifelong learning through educating, vocational training, and digital literacy programmes for underserved communities. From adult literacy to coding bootcamps, we open doors to opportunity at every age.
Faith & Fellowship
We foster religious education, spiritual development, and community fellowship through worship services, neighbourhood gatherings, and interfaith dialogues. We believe faith and community are powerful forces for healing and unity.
Amateur Sports
We encourage amateur sports for physical health and wellness through activities and inclusive events. From weekly football sessions for young people to community fun runs, we champion movement, teamwork, and well-being for all.
Our mission is to uplift the new generation with skills, health and education — through the advancement of education, the advancement of religion, and the advancement of amateur sport.
Specifically, we aim to provide hardship support through community outreach, supplies and counselling for youth; promote lifelong learning through educating, vocational training and digital literacy programmes for underserved communities; foster religious education, spiritual development and community fellowship through worship services, neighbourhood gatherings and interfaith dialogues; and encourage amateur sports for physical health and wellness through activities and inclusive events.
We aim to create a world where every child and young person has the opportunity to thrive, regardless of their circumstances — with healing, empowerment, and hope for a brighter future.
We aim to be a leader in healthcare innovation, education, and community development. By building strong partnerships and leveraging cutting-edge technologies, we plan to address the healthcare challenges faced globally and across developing nations. Together, we envision a healthier, more educated, and empowered society where every young person can reach their full potential and contribute to a brighter future.
Since our inception, HAS Children's Foundation has worked to make significant strides in improving lives.
We aim to provide medical care to over 50,000 children, establish 10 schools in underserved areas, and implement sustainable water projects in 20 communities. Our nutrition programmes work to reduce malnutrition rates by 40% in our target areas. Through our efforts, we anticipate a 30% increase in school attendance and a 25% reduction in preventable childhood diseases.
